Celebrities
For some reason, this post totally got deleted and I'm not that happy with it either. So I'm going to rewrite a similar post about this topic.
On the day that I posted the "original" Celebrities topic, I mentioned that I thought I saw someone famous I believe. I can't believe I still didn't forget it. I think it was one of the Chinese stars. Anyways, did I mention the few rules that you're supposed to "follow" if you are stuck in one of those, "I think I just met a celebrity and I want to go up and say hi but he/she may not be a celebrity and I'll get embarrassed" situations? I think I did... I'll post some of them anyways.
1. Confirm it
I'm pretty sure this was not on the previous post. But, confirm who you're trying to talk to. Body language is your main focus here too. If the person wants to stay hidden, they will most likely adjust their cap (if they have one on) to hide their face occasionally. Otherwise, they should be rather nervous in such a public place. You know how your mom is always at one of those markets and she doesn't care if she gets seen. She holds her head high trying to look for good food? Well... my mom at least... The person will be trying to get out of the store once they got what they wanted.
2. Decide
I'm pretty sure this wasn't on the previous post either. Decide whether you want to go up and satisfy your curiosity or just let it go. If it was me, I would let it go. But there are those people who are really curious and want to at least see if they can actually meet a celebrity no matter what.
Ah.. I think I put up "do nots" instead of rules. Well, I can still do it.
1. Do not embarrass yourself
That's the number one thing. Imagine being in a very crowded place and you thought you met someone famous or something by luck. Imagine yourself actually meeting someone like Christina Aguilera for some reason. The very next day, you can see yourself on the front page with the headline, "Girl Wants To Become Famous By Kissing Up to Christina!" or something. I do not know, I'm making this up along the way.
2. Do not be paparazzi like
You see, there's a reason why a celebrity would go out at night to buy their daily needs like food. It's because of the paparazzi. Some do not like to be stalked all the time. It gets on their nerves. Don't go up to your favorite celebrity of all time and start asking for photographs and pictures. If you want to become friends, just say hi and tell them how much you like their works. Maybe you can also try a little "insight" advice to that person and see if you can capture their interest. After you finish your "little" (and I do mean little. Not many celebrities like people who talk to much. Kind of reminds them of the press) conversation, just smile, nod, and walk away. Best solution for everything.
3. Do not get overly excited
You see, after being someone famous, it's obvious to them what a fan would want. Once they start talking to a fan, they can guess what the fan is going to ask them next or so and so. It's something you pick up along the way. Pretend you meet Britney Spears and you really love her songs.
You: Hello, Britney! I really love your songs.
Britney: Thank you.
You: Ums.. can i...?
Britney: (ALREADY THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT; autograph, photograph, dinner, appointment, etc)
You: Can I have your autograph?
Britney: (She's probably thinking something like, 'Bingo'.)
Nice job. You just made a obvious and common fan impression on your favorite person ever. It's nice if you thought ahead. Of course, I have no right to decide what you want to say or do.
4. Don't be too obvious
Leave a mysterious side. This goes for everyday life but maybe you didn't know it yet. Try to leave a mysterious yet deep impression on a person. It makes them think of you, wanting to know more. Smile knowingly. Walk away quickly. Pretend you don't know them. It strikes someone's curiosity if they're popular but yet you do not know them. It's more of a 75/25. 75% Fail and 25% Success.
5. Don't force a celebrity to like you
Many meet celebrities all the time. However, if the celebrity rejects the "fan", the fan actually keeps clinging onto something that's not there! That's called bothering. It's annoying and yet they do not realize it so I'm literally pointing it out. If a celebrity doesn't like you, it's final. However, many other chances in the future. So between the time now and the future, try figuring what you did wrong and try to "shape" up.
Not every celebrity is how they are on TV or some interview. Real life is more terrifying. You may think that your favorite celebrities like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Madonna and etc. are really nice. How do you know? Not that I'm trying to put those 3 singers down, it was just an example. Just don't overdo things.
Those "rules" are what I set up for myself actually. I just wanted to share a few views on things. I'm currently addicted to Korean music actually. Have fun trying to meet a celebrity!
